Finding a WoW guild
Start with the right version, community and expectations.
WoW Guild Finder is an independent directory for Retail World of Warcraft guilds and players. You can browse guild names, compare published recruitment details and find a community that fits your schedule. Browsing, creating a player profile and listing a guild are free. You do not need an account to browse.
Choose your game region, then compare activity, language, weekly commitment and the times you can play. For a recruiting guild, read the actual team openings and confirmation date before contacting an officer. Ask about attendance, preparation and the atmosphere you want; a progression label alone does not describe the community.
The directory currently supports Retail WoW. It does not have separate Classic, Hardcore or other version listings. Confirm the version when following an older source or recruitment post, and do not assume a guild with the same name in another version is the same community.
Use community preferences such as New players welcome, Returning players welcome or Learning / teaching, alongside Social or your preferred activity. These filters match officer-supplied recruitment details, so results depend on published listings. Ask what support is offered and whether social membership, learning runs or a raid trial are available. “Casual” does not necessarily mean there is no attendance commitment.
Indexed records contain a guild name and region, without confirmed openings, activities or schedules. They cannot honestly match recruitment filters. A filtered search can therefore be empty even when many guilds are indexed. Broaden the recruitment filters, search the index by name and region, or publish a player profile so officers can find you.
Back to FAQ topics ↑Regions, realms and factions
Understand where a guild plays before comparing its recruitment.
The site accepts Retail guilds in Americas & Oceania, Europe, Korea, Taiwan and China (Mainland). Choose the game region where your characters play. Community location and language are separate fields: an officer’s home country does not determine the guild’s game region or the language its members use.
Choose Americas & Oceania as the game region and Oceania as the community location in the recruitment filters. Then check the actual timezone, days and language. An Americas & Oceania index entry alone does not tell you whether its members follow Australian, New Zealand or North American hours.
Retail supports guild invitations across realms. A different realm name does not by itself mean you must buy a transfer to join. Confirm your game region, character and exact guild identity with the officer first; cross-realm membership should not be confused with playing across game regions. Realm names still help distinguish guilds with similar names.
Yes. Retail supports cross-faction guild membership. Check the listing’s faction preference and ask whether your character is welcome in the particular team. Membership does not mean every activity or faction-specific feature works identically, so discuss the content you plan to play together before applying.
Back to FAQ topics ↑Schedules, raid teams and applications
Check the practical fit before committing to a team.
Open More filters, choose your display timezone and enter your available days, start and end times. Published fixed schedules show the next sessions in your chosen timezone. Check the date as well as the hour when sessions cross midnight or daylight-saving changes differ between locations. Ask the officer to clarify vague phrases such as “server time.”
Use Weekly commitment for one day, two days, three or more days, or no fixed schedule. More filters also includes maximum weekly hours. These preferences use the published schedule; they do not measure preparation, farming or optional events. Ask how much time the team expects outside its listed sessions.
AOTC means Ahead of the Curve and CE means Cutting Edge: time-limited raid achievements associated with Heroic-or-higher and Mythic final-boss kills respectively. Mythic+ refers to timed dungeon keystone runs. A guild can advertise one of these as a goal without having achieved it. Check the named raid, dated progression and whether the label is an aspiration, past result or applicant requirement.
Yes. Recruitment filters include role, class opening, specialisation, raid goal and difficulty. For guilds with multiple teams, the directory matches recruitment criteria within a team rather than combining one team’s opening with another’s schedule. Read the matched team’s details and ask whether an off-spec or flexible role would be useful.
Each guild sets its own requirements; the site does not impose a universal gear or experience threshold. Read the description, voice policy and contact instructions. A progression team may ask for character links, logs or a trial, while a social or learning group may have different expectations. Ask whether voice means listening only or speaking, and discuss accessibility needs directly with the officer.
Use the public contact or application method on the guild’s published listing. Send your region, character class and role, the team you want, relevant experience and the schedule you can reliably keep. The guild handles its own applications and in-game invitations; listing here does not guarantee a reply or a place. Before a trial, ask about its length, feedback, attendance and roster rotation.
Back to FAQ topics ↑Indexed guilds and ownership claims
What a public index record establishes, and how an officer can manage it.
An indexed guild is a public-source record of a guild name and game region, where known. It helps people look up a guild and gives authorised officers a page to claim. It is not a full recruitment listing, proof that the guild is active, or an endorsement. Some source records are historical; the individual page shows its source links and dates.
Look for an officer-managed recruitment listing with current openings and an officer confirmation date. Published recruitment listings leave the directory after 14 days without reconfirmation. An indexed name does not establish recruitment, and even a recent confirmation cannot guarantee a specific vacancy is still open. Check with the officer before applying.
Find the correct name and region in the index, open its page and select Claim indexed guild. Sign in with a verified account and explain your officer role and how staff can check your authority, such as a public recruitment post you control or an identifiable guild Discord role. Support reviews the request before granting access. You can also choose Claim a guild in our Discord support channel and give the index page URL. Staff can use /claimprofile in the private ticket to assign it to a connected Discord account or an existing verified email account. Never include passwords or authentication tokens in claim evidence.
No. An approved claim gives the verified officer a private draft to complete. Add the guild’s schedule, preferences, openings and public contact method, then submit the listing for review. Until recruitment is published, the index entry does not gain assumed activity, progression or recruitment details. If someone else has already claimed the page, contact support to resolve ownership.
Open support in the WoW Guild Finder Discord and include the affected page link, the correction or removal requested, and public evidence identifying the right guild. Use the same route for impersonation, unsafe links or ownership disputes. Guilds with the same name can be different communities; include the region and realm when explaining a possible duplicate.
Back to FAQ topics ↑Listing and updating your guild
Publish useful recruitment details and keep them accurate.
Use List your guild and sign in with a verified account. Supply the guild name, game region, realm, community location, language, timezone, schedule, activities, openings, description and public contact method. The private officer contact is for review. Submit the form for staff review; new submissions do not appear as published recruitment immediately.
Yes. Choose the activities your guild offers, then give additional raid teams their own names, schedules, timezones, goals, roles and class openings. Keep the main team’s details clear too. Separate teams let players evaluate the opening they would actually apply for instead of treating the whole guild as one identical roster.
Open My account, choose Manage for your guild and save changes for review. The approved public version stays in place until replacement details are approved, provided it remains current. Use Confirm recruitment to renew an eligible published listing for another 14 days when its details are still accurate. Pending changes or a closed listing need review before reconfirmation.
Yes. Verified listing owners can upload an avatar and banner, preview the processed image, adjust horizontal and vertical focus, and zoom or reset the position. JPG, PNG and WebP uploads are supported; the editor shows whether GIF uploads are available and the applicable size limits. The site resizes and compresses artwork. Image changes follow the listing review process.
Close recruitment removes the managed recruitment listing from public view. Deleting a listing removes that managed submission. If a separately sourced index record exists, closing or deleting recruitment does not remove that name-and-region record; it may still appear in the index. Request a correction or index removal through support rather than replacing guild details with misleading text.
Back to FAQ topics ↑Players and groups looking for a guild
Let officers understand what you play and when you are available.
Yes. A verified account can create a player profile for a solo player or a group of up to 10. Include the classes and roles you play, your region, activities, availability, goals and chosen public contact method. If friends want to join together, explain whether that is essential and ask the officer whether the same team can accommodate everyone.
Published player profiles leave the directory after 30 days without an update. You can edit, hide or delete your profile when your plans change or you find a guild. A staff-moderated profile cannot be made public simply by editing it; contact support if you need help. Website profiles and Discord channel posts are managed separately.
Your published profile details and chosen public contact method are visible to visitors. Guild listings show the public contact method selected by the officer. Your account email, linked Discord account identity, private officer contact and claim evidence are not automatically published in these pages. If you enter a Discord username as the public contact, that username is public.
Back to FAQ topics ↑Recommendations and hourly spotlight
How community engagement affects published recruitment listings.
Signed-in users with verified email or connected Discord can recommend eligible, current guild listings. Each account contributes at most one recommendation per guild and can remove it. The listing owner cannot recommend their own guild. Most recommended sorting puts higher recommendation counts first among matching recruitment listings, with recent confirmation used to break ties. Indexed names remain sorted by name.
Each verified account can bump one eligible guild per hour, including its own guild. Remove your bump before choosing another that hour. At the hour change, the most-bumped eligible guild from the previous hour is chosen for spotlight; a tie is decided randomly. If there were no eligible bumps, an eligible guild is chosen randomly. The countdown shows when the current voting hour ends.
Engagement is available to eligible, current officer-managed recruitment listings. An indexed name has no confirmed recruitment details, so it cannot enter spotlight on that basis alone. Claim the entry, complete the draft and have the recruitment listing approved first. If no eligible listings exist, spotlight has no winner. Recommendations and bumps are community preferences, not proof of guild quality or progression.
Back to FAQ topics ↑Accounts and support
Sign in, get help and understand the site’s role.
You can browse without signing in. The site supports email sign-in and Discord sign-in; confirm your email or connect Discord before submitting, claiming, publishing a player profile or voting. A Battle.net login is not required for those site actions. A website account does not automatically join a guild or grant officer ownership.
No. WoW Guild Finder is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment. Use our Discord support for listing, claim, account or moderation issues, and include the relevant page link and what went wrong. Blizzard handles game-account and in-game problems. Never give an officer or support volunteer your game password, authenticator code or account token.
